Speech on Hatred
(Happy MLK day I wrote this for my CW class)
Hatred. A thing that we have all pretty much seen especially on social media, but that's also not the only place you can find it, history is a good place to start.
In 1955 Rosa Parks decided to stand up for people of color by sitting in the front of the bus even when a white man told her to move to the back of the bus where most people of color sat, except Rosa didn’t move she sat in the seat and said “no” to the man. Even though she was arrested for doing it she started a bus boycott, and now anybody can sit anywhere on the bus with hardly any problems.
Last year when I was in 7th grade a kid that I will not name for privacy was making fun of my friends for no real reason to, but the only thing that we could make since was being different, for them it wasn’t fair at all of what they had to go through. There’s a pattern that goes on with both of these stories.
Being different is the problem of skin color, having mentally or physical disorders, how people dress, culture, what they are like, and how they act, but those things make people human, and it's not fair to the people who are getting bullied for it.
And the kids who get bullied for this stuff from ignorant people who don’t even get to know them didn’t think about how it could affect the person. Teens who have been victim to bullying self harm rate (20%) along with suicidal thoughts (also 20%). Over 14% of bullied teens have considered suicide and 7% of that 14 has attempted doing it.
Our nation hasn’t learned to accept people for who they are yet, and we need to fix that. But there are so many ways we can fix it, and it can be hard to choose.
One way we can fix world hatred is social media. We can post a lot of things on there about fixing hatred and it would be the easiest way to since everyone has it. It can start by a simple flier telling everyone to join a google meet and we can talk. It doesn't have to be a big community. 10 people can only be interested, and I'll be fine with it. After we talk about it on the meet we can take it to tiktok, and just make a video of just talking about how to stop hatred.
