The Road
The road beckons me again,
Packed my bags and said good-bye
Before my hello is even heard.
I seem to remember a time
When the road was my only mistress,
She was always more of a lover
And even less than a friend.
The wander lust was my blood
And only my memories had roots.
Only my memories dare betray me,
Offering me a name when I sought none.
Offering me the past
When all I wanted was tomorrow.
Still the road is beckoning me again,
Leading me to my destiny,
Leading me back home...
With the knowledge all I ever was
Wasn’t a roamer running from his past
But a dreamer reaching for his own
North star.
