I went for it

I asked her name

She replied with a smile

Then with, “Abby”

It was all I could do to breathe

She continued to smile

Then spoke of her work as a singer

“I have great expectations for my future”

All I heard was the word “our” in place of “my”

Abby waited for me to make the next move

She did not have to wait for long

I told her that her beauty rivaled the stars

And then surpassed even that

I indicated my feelings directly to her eyes

For it was there she was hearing best

I became emboldened, but not brazen

I spoke of my future

With a wife and children yet unborn

All were more than possible, more than plausible
