The writing on the wall

President Joe Biden, for the good of his party and the country, has decided to not seek re-election as President of the United States. After the President's disastrous showing at the debate, party elites have been putting pressure on Biden to step down and this campaign has been successful. Biden has read the writing on the wall and as much as I am sure he doesn't want to step down, he is stepping down. He doesn't really have a choice.

Regardless of whether you think this is the right thing for the country, I think it is the right thing for Joe Biden. Why? Because it is very clear that age has caught up to him and he is not the same person he was. This is not a slight on the President, everyone grows old, and, in the process, they break down. It happens to everyone eventually. The stress of being President has to be enormous and that isn't doing the President's health any favors. Now, he can concentrate on his health and enjoy whatever time he has left in peace and that is definitely the right call.
