How do you say
How do you say I love you
getting through your days
Is it a kiss on the lips in the morning
Is it a coffee on the deck
Is it in helping do the shopping
or confiding when you feel like a wreck
Is it in the gift of a beautiful red rose
or chocolate, this wins their heart
Is it helping to juggle the kids daily program
or in even knowing where to start
Love is blind, it's true they say
But of course that dont mean a thing
We all know best and as it finds us
All we can do is submit and pick out a ring
Is it happily chatting on for hours
In awe of what is said
Is it helping to clean up soiled sheets
when the kids have wet the bed
Is it spending your time wondering
Just what is in their mind
Is it crying with them or helping them out when they are in a bind
Would it be holding hands as we walk down the street
Is it in giving their mother a kiss on the cheek the very first time we meet
Do you find it sitting silent, as they read their awesome book
or watching them try on clothes after they asked you to take a look
Do we find it in a sunset view as we drive to and fro
Is it in answering all the questions that they really want to know
Is it in their eyes so blue, as they look into your soul
Is it in understanding it is them with whom you want to grow old
Is it in the honour and respect you give them
or keeping the smile upon their face
Is it playing tag in a field or watching them win the race
Is it in keeping it so simple by helping with the daily grind
Opening the door and saying thank you for being oh so kind
For some it is the words themselves that they need to hear
They say I love you everyday like it's a victory cheer
I think its so much deeper than words that we convey
It is in our thoughts, our very souls, spoken by our actions, the only way
Love is both happiness and sadness, endured from the start.
It is sacrificing your every breath, your soul and the tattered pieces of your heart.
When we have it, we want to ring the bells so loud
And they wrap their arms around you as you look at them so proud.
