More than Hello
We greet each other;not really listening
we catch each other's name but thats as far as it goes
we don't notice the burdens they carry
the heavy load they bear
we don't take the time to ask what they're going through
we ignore the pain etched on their faces
We have no sympathy
no empathy
it doesn't concern us; why should we care
yet, when we're going through it ourselves
we scream in frustration
nursing our wounds;
cursing those who take no notice
who don't care enough to stop and listen
those who walk by oblivious to our heavy hearts weighing us down
Open your eyes,
stop turning a blind eye
learn to stop and take the time
to hear more than hello
