There's an idea in folklore that says you should never answer a voice calling your name unless you can see who is speaking. Why not? What will happen to you? Who or what will you see or hear? Write a piece of flash fiction based on this folkloric idea. Be as creative as you like and feel free to use traditional folklore or make up your own completely new ideas. Feel free also to explore hybrid genres and to stray from mainstream paranormal themes.

Hell

As I do my chores I heard mama call

So I answered she wasn't there at all

So I went back to what I was doing

yard work, weeding and mowing.

I heard my name again, yet there was

Not one soul to be found as I was

working on the grounds.

"Who is that? Who is calling me?"

Next thing I know I'm in a room with giggling

Kids and they have a funny looking board

They are playing with. They can't see me,

but I'm trying to yell "Send me back home or I'll send you to Hell!"
