Weary
Today I will rise up and take what's mine.
I will seize back the power over my own life.
It's been a long time coming,
I've been fighting for so very long.
I will no longer be at the mercy
of a man's vindictive hatred.
I will no longer be on call
for a man's fickle love.
I will not be tossed carelessly aside.
I will not be trampled on when he leaves.
I will not be a punching bag or a doormat.
I will stop spinning aimlessly,
stop going with the flow,
stop stumbling and tumbling,
I will stop ruining lives with my failures.
I will stand up, I'll admit my shortcomings;
I wasn't the mother I needed to be.
On my knees, I will beg his forgiveness,
I'm so sorry I loved you all wrong.
I will give him the best gift I never received,
I will hand him the absolution I sought,
I will carry the blame on my shoulders,
the guilt on my heart, as I say goodbye.
My exit from life means freedom
For those burdened by my broken love.
