Man that theme song is catchy as hell! Nickelodeon is back with The Loud House, quite positively the most fun and enjoyable cartoon they had in years. The Loud House is a cartoon about a boy named Lincoln Loud and his life with his ten sisters that gives the family from Cheaper by The Dozen a run for its money. They're the family that puts the fun back in dysfunctional. Interestingly fact Chris Savino, the series creator, based the series on his own childhood while growing up in a large family.
I know I've overused the word fun already for talking about this show, but I can't help it this show is very fun to watch. The energy throughout is fast-paced and chaotic, which is fitting with its premise. The animation is visually appealing, almost like it was straight out of a comic strip. And that theme song, I just love it! It's been stuck in my head for a while and I never want it to leave.
Each character has there own personality and are very likable in their own way. The show mainly puts its focus on the sole boy Lincoln Loud, and he is just a great character. If you're someone with siblings or has a big family, you'd definitely can relate to Lincoln. I also like how different each of Lincoln's sisters are to a point I can immediately name all of them. We also have Lincoln's best friend Clyde, who is just an adorable nerdy character. And of course we have Mr. and Mrs. Loud, who's faces are a mystery. I always find that very odd when all the adults in the series have faces yet the parents don't. I don't get it.
I love the bold directions this cartoon has taken as well. It reminded me of how daring the old 90's cartoons were. For example, in one episode where the athletic Lynn Loud gets tired of living with the goth Lucy Loud, she decides to move in with Lincoln. During the episode there is a brief moment where she makes the comment that there is a severe lack of balls in his room, only to immediately point out the lack of baseballs, footballs, etc. Damn, you know what? This show has balls! Hell, this is the one kid's cartoon on air that features a same-sex married couple, Clyde's parents being two dads, and they too are likable and funny in their own way. Way to go, Nick!
The only issues I have with the series, which are very minor in comparison, are the sometimes some of the lessons in each episode feel a little rushed but that's mostly because each episode is at most 11 minutes long. So I can forgive the series for that. Overall what more can I say about this cartoon? It's a must-watch for all ages! It's a nice, refreshing show to watch that takes Nickelodeon back to its original roots since the network became plagued with crappy sitcoms and SpongeBob SquarePants episodes. Please take the time and watch a couple episodes alone, with friends, or with family. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
