‘Using sex toys was painful so I went to see doctor – the diagnosis floored me’
Fenella Fox has made a name for herself online thanks to her impressive OnlyFans content.
And now she’s using her notoriety to try and raise awareness about HPV and cervical cancer.
The 29-year-old from Worcester, England, had her first-ever smear test this year and unfortunately discovered she had a severe case of HPV and was worried she may have cancer.
HPV can cause cervical and other cancers, including cancer of the vulva, vagina, penis or anus.
While cancer often takes years, even decades, to develop after a person gets HPV, it’s important to be vigilant.
She exclusively told the Daily Star: “I had noticed I was bleeding when I used my sex toys and would need a bath to relax in as I was in pain. Turns out these were both signs of HPV.”

Fenella went for a biopsy and the results were that she had pre-cancerous cells but thankfully, not cancer.
Regardless, she says it was still a scary and stressful experience and she needed to have an operation.
She bled a lot during her surgery and had to stay in the hospital longer to be monitored.
Fenella added: “I spent the night looking ghostly with low blood pressure. The recovery process has been longer than I hoped but I'm now almost four weeks post-surgery and finally feeling like myself again.”
The brunette beauty had been putting off having a smear test as she didn't understand the importance of it.
“I didn't think I needed it as I didn't have sex anymore – although I had lots of sex when I was a teenager,” she explained.
“Turns out there's a lot about HPV and cervical cancer I didn't know that I wish I knew earlier!”
Fenella didn’t know that HPV can stay in your body for 10 to 20 years before developing into cervical cancer – meaning you could catch it during your first sexual experience. This is why it’s important to be checked regularly.
While condoms can help prevent you from catching HPV during sexual intercourse, they’re not as effective against HPV as they are against other STDs. This being said, safe sex is still crucial.
She also didn’t know that men cannot be tested for HPV like women can so unless they’re showing physical symptoms, they won't know if they have it.
The 29-year-old said she’s noticed a lot of women her age are currently undergoing cervical surgery and she’s scared to think about how many people might unknowingly have HPV right now.
“I put off getting a smear test as I didn't think I needed it and that could have been life-threatening if I put it off any longer,” she said.
“I think if HPV was spoken about more it would totally change the dating world as we currently know it!
“It's a disease that kills women and is spread unknowingly from men during intercourse even if a condom is worn. It's frightening and has totally put me off having sex outside of a relationship.
“I will now protect my cervix like it is a holy grail. I don't plan on making any more dildo videos for my fans!”
