and walk the paths

to places forgotten by time

where willow boughs and satin leaves

play their languid chime

hear the echoes of the song

sung by wolves now gone

borne by winds that twist and bend

trapped by time that never moves

frozen till the end

Snow is the cruelest mistress

So, you’ll never hear my say

it’s a beauty that brightens the world

When it falls you’ll see

death and destruction

For It is not

A loving embrace

What it is is

A deadly curse

it puts an end to

What makes life worth living

The light that glints off it is

as harsh as the driest desert

I’d be lying if i said its

A beauty to behold

when snow blankets the ground, you find

It’s a harbinger of death

I cannot say in good conscience that

Passion an arrow; knowledge the bow

The work that is needed to reap what you sow

But in your greed

You forgot want from need

Secrets you were keeping

Could not stop from seeping

When love is abolished

All hope is demolished

While danger was stalking

The clock just kept tocking

And with a rumble

Thrones started to crumble

Your flags they tore

Your kingdom’s no more

I am their anger

their rage and their hate

that thrives in the conflict that I instigate

The lands they destroy

the crops they raze

they burn their own bridges their blood set ablaze

and in all this fighting sees rise from my brother

who makes scarce the food

and tears them asunder

Barren fields and silent towns

Stricken by death and the terror it crowns

I am the one who caused this despair

the sense of dread that strangles the air

I strike during conflict

I make the food scarce

to pave way for my brother

whose very own breath

Carries a killer

and causes more death

I stalk in the dark for which i'm renowned

I enter their homes with nary a sound

I am the creatures they hear in the walls

that scratching and scuttering that makes their skin crawl

and when they awaken and put up a fight

it's already too late

their death is in sight

Fate is sealed

they can not defend

so I wait for my brother

for he is the end

I am the last

but never the least

I am the fourth

you call me a beast

you've met my three brothers

the destruction they sing

but when push comes to shove

I am the king

my work is eternal

my destruction complete

you can not escape me

you can not defeat

I am your future

you know it will be

for I am the last
