Candles and crosses once more line the gate outside Tomathie House, signaling the arrival of October 31. The clock in the town square has just finished its twelfth chime, which means it’s 6pm. In most towns pumpkins, monsters, warm apple cider, and jovial trick-or-treaters decorate the night, but ever since that fateful night three years ago, Halloween has been a somber holiday in our town.
Porcelain Doll
I couldn't hold back the tears as I leaned in close and held her face, her soft still face...dead like a porcelain doll. The tears hurt, worst then anything I’d ever felt, flames rolling down my cheeks, burning me for my worthlessness. I couldn’t save her... she was murdered right in front of me and I COULDN’T SAVE HER!
Taking Time
The fight was arduous, as any invasion of a villains lair ought to be; duly he felt pride in the defenses around his home, even if they didn’t last his followers deserved a raise.
He lifted his chin but did not rise to face the hero before him, “Finally come to take my head? You certainly took your time.”
To the dastardly man’s surprise, the hero collapsed to her knees,“Please, I need your help; teach me how to make friends.”
Home Early
Nicole Morris entered her two bedroom apartment exhausted from a long day at the office. Eager to take off her clothes, hop in the shower and watch movies with her husband Roger, she entered the den in hopes to see him there. As she walked past their master bedroom she heard a rythmic thumping from within the bedroom.
Her Eyes
I needed to see her one last time, before she was gone forever, I needed to see those gorgeous eyes of her's again. I'm running out of time, she's slowly fading, faster, faster, why did this happen to her of all people. I burst into her hospital room and see that she's still with me, but how did she get this way you ask, well everything happened in the span of a few weeks, and it was all because of one idiot.
Licking Wounds
The man could only stare at the dust fluttering in the sunlight that seeped through the thin drapery of the room. Laying on a saggy mattress, he rested his right arm over his stomach trying not to breath so heavily because inhaling took effort and every time he did he swore he could still pick up the scent of blood. He couldn’t believe how breaking such a silly promise could cause so much trouble.
