Humanity
I believe in the good of people, of humanity. We grow from one another and we teach one another, the basic human kindness.
I believe in doing what is morally and incontrovertibly right in all cases.
We are taught that Satan is the root of all evil and he should not be reckoned with. But we are also taught to pray for others who have done wrongdoings unto us or not. So, who prays for Satan? Who has had the common humanity to pray for the one sinner that needed it the most?
We are so subjugated by strife and jealousy that we forget the foundations of what will keep us together at the end. I put in my hope that we haven't forgotten.
Side note: Thank you Mark Twain for changing my outlook on religion and life itself.
Permanence.
The thought of settling down and being who you're meant to be and who you're meant to be with, may be a solace for most.
But it is apprehending to me.
The idea of settling down in one place, with one person, and one plan, does not sound peaceful, it sounds limited.
There are things people haven't done and have not tapped into their full potential. We have the power to connect with each human being we encounter and experience different lives while maintaining the one we presently possess. It is nostalgic.
Until I've reached the end of the line and I've found what I've been yearning for, then will I settle and seek permanence.
Stand Up
We have the freedom to be what we want to be and how we want to be it. Freedom is what defines this country to its core, yet we oppress those who use their freedom to their upmost advantage.
We get tired of hearing about the issues that have been happening one after the other, but it is something that's needs to be said, understood, and to not become martyrs in a resolution.
The âFâ Word
I want to write about the constant issues with the social media and how they portray men and women in the form of a poem.
But there is nothing poetic about it.
Women are used constantly for the attention of men in ads and commercials in a sexual manner, and it is seen as appropriate.
If a woman were to express her sexuality to men in public, she is seen as degrading and disrespecting herself. The terms "slut" and "whore" get thrown around when women so much as show men special attention.
Men have the freedom to be as sexual as they want with women and not have these degrading terms titling them.
They are taught that they cannot be sensitive like women or feminine like women. The idea of a man so much as being "feminine" is seen as an insult or offensive to those who are not women.
This idea restricts the freedoms of both sexes and causes a boundary between them, thus making them unequal. We are more concerned about being different than one another than seeing the similarities and uniting as one.
You would be quick to label this as "feminism." But feminism is just another form of equality.
