Independence
Independence Day is known as when the United States of America became independent from Britain. It's when the people of America felt as if they could govern themselves. They wanted to break the oppressive hold Britain had on them and start making their own rules. Many people think of Independence Day as a breaking of union, or becoming autonomous. It's actually quite the opposite.
When the US became separate from Britain, it did break up two countries. However, it also brought together a new one. The USA had been living under Britain's rules. Now it was up to them to keep their country up and running. The people of the US had to come together and help each other to prosper in their new land. They had to work to become the powerful nation they are now.
Independence may mean to separate, but if you really look into it, it could also be the coming together of a nation.
Happiness
If you look around today,
everyone has something to complain about.
It’s all so cliche
The way everyone pouts.
There’s so much to celebrate!
So much to rejoice!
What’s the reason for all this hate?
Why would you make hate your choice?
A baby’s laugh,
A kind man’s smile,
A good photograph,
A wonderful lifestyle.
You’re safe, aren’t you?
You have what you need?
Why are our thoughts askew?
Do I really have to plead?
Be happy with who you are.
Not with who you’re not.
Don’t wish upon a star
For things you haven’t got.
