It’s a Beautiful Day
Warmth spread throughout her half-naked form as an overly dramatic yawn escaped supple lips. Stretching and wrapping herself further into the warm cotton sheets, the young brunette wormed her way deeper into the subpar mattress.
A spunky black and white chihuahua puppy proceeded to hop around excitedly making mincemeat out of her pale face with his razorblade puppy claws.
A green eye twitched in slight displeasure but she took the battle wounds in stride. Pulling the puppy closer to her face as a thousand licks escaped his tiny yipping form.
"Relax Jett!" She buried her face in his tiny little arms, desperatly trying to escape his tongue of destruction attack.
Eventually the braisian puppy relaxed and plopped down beside her, leaving the young woman in a state of contentment.
"What now, jerk dog?"
She was met with silence, but for some strange reason, she had a good feeling about today.
Today would be full of adventure. All she had to do was show up and something wonderful was bound to happen.
Always.
Behind the wheel, a sudden urge springs forth
as though an empathetic dam had burst.
Would it really hurt? I think.
If the wheel spun away, and the tires didn't squeak.
What if that truck, was my last stop?
Would there still be pain?
A second or two, and the thought isn't through, but my mind is suddenly blank.
A tear swells up, in a discolored eye,
An eternity lives in my heart,
A forever ago, I was surrounded. Distracted.
A forever ago it wasn't so dark.
I grit my teeth. I must make it home, where somebody waits at the door.
A beautiful girl, with a beautiful smile,
For her, alone is no more.
