A Short List of Lovelies
Animal eyes,
Animals who choose you as their favorite person,
Art of all kinds,
A suprise snow day,
Bodies of Water,
Chocolate Ice Cream with rainbow sprinkles,
Feeling accomplished,
My friends' smiles,
Getting to sleep in,
Knowing that you know it,
Making a stranger happy,
Old fashioned dresses,
Receiving an unexpected compliment,
The first sunny day of Spring,
Weddings of people you know well,
Young children willingly sharing,
I have wondered what you feel like for so long. You met my Grandfather, and I wondered if you were as gentle and quiet as you appeared. You took my little cousin, and I asked how you could take so long, and let him suffer as he did. You gathered five souls eight years ago, at the fire in Milton's Gym. Did you want them? could they speak to you? Did you order their arrival, or did you need to rush to the scene to take them in time? You gathered twenty more after the shootout last year. Did you want those souls? Do you see their killers as loyal servants, ready to sacrifice to you at their own risk? Are they an annoyance instead, overeager evil - doers who make you do more work than wanted? Do you even care about who you take? What happens to them after they meet you? If anything happens at all? You don't only take people. You take animals, plants, dreams, innocence. You take beliefs and industries. You took my mobility just a few weeks ago. You have taken so much from the world, both good and bad. I have known you in many ways over my lifetime. Just as I have known you, I know that you will come to meet me soon. You are a social one - you forget to come for nothing. When you come, I hope it is to meet me, not to take me. I have heard and learned so much about you - forgive me when I greet you as a well known friend and companion.

What. Just. Happened.
Diary, you know me very well by now. You know that I exaggerate a lot of what i write to you, so that when i read it again it can sound interesting. But what I write now is no joke. We literally have a zombie apocalypse on our hands. Yes, i'm being serious here. Sure, they're calling it "A strange new virus causing rapid mental breakdowns, loss of verbal speech, skin decay and cannibalism, transferred by unknown bacteria in the saliva of those infected." Yeah yeah newscasters, call it what it is: an actual Zombie Apocalypse. They are even telling us to kill the infected on sight, because the disease is so aggressive. If that's not zombie, i don't know what is. If the fact that it reached our city isn't bad enough, this zombie virus doesn't only go after humans, it has also reached our animals. The Riccis near school had to put down their two dogs down, and the dad also was 'zombified'. I heard the screams. It was horrible. We heard of the outbreak about 20 minutes before that. It was mandatory broadcasting, so the principal knew it was serious. Luckily, no one in school was infected, but as a precaution, we were all sent home, after the school checked with our parent to make sure it was safe. Pretty much all transportation companies had shut down, so the teachers offered to drive us home. The streets were a mess. People were hysterical on the streets, looking like they didn't know whether to run into a house or way from one. Cars were ignoring almost all rules, and some were driving on the sidewalks, just to be able to get ahead of the traffic. Bianca was in my lap, and she was crying. I'm supposed to be big now, but I also wanted to cry. It looked like the world was really ending out there.
Now we're home. About an hour after we got here, the President put out a mandatory shut down for the whole country. None of us are allowed to leave the house. When mom heard that, she dragged Poppy out of the backyard and into the house. She wanted all of us together. Now, the streets are much quieter. The people who are outside are only allowed into shelters, orphanages, and hospitals now. Security people were sent everywhere to make sure everything stays locked. Some of them hurt people who were trying to get into their houses. It was scary. When Mommy saw me looking, she closed the blinds over the windows. They're boarded up, now. She wanted to board up the door also, but she said that if we need to escape for some reason, we will need the door, so she just locked it and put the table and chairs against it. Bianca hasn't stopped crying. She won't even have a drink. She said that she saw someone lying in the street. Mommy is very worried now. I heard her talking to Grandma and Gramps on the phone. Where they live it is much worse. They said that they were going to try and go somewhere else. I didn't hear anything else. Mommy saw me then, and closed her door and took the phone off of speaker. Ugh. Anyhow, I've been stuck in here for the last five hours. The pod's battery has run out, so i can't even hang with Riley anymore. Poppy has been driving me mad for the last ten minutes. I can hear it, even upstairs. He probably needs to pee, I bet. I'll take him into the bathroom and close the door. If he has to be in the house now, the best place for him to do his stuff is the bathtub. I'll take you with me. See what is happening downstairs. Well, nothings wrong with the steps, I see the food was taken off the counter, there's Poppy! Why so angry? Calm down, boy, i'll take you, wait no hessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
