Rose Petals
I felt her loveliness
slipping inside my skin
to nestle next to my heart.
She brushed our world
with sublime paint strokes,
blurred flashbacks
of memory upon her brow.
She touched the promise
of rose petals in soft blush
as the sun sketched
roadway to her open soul.
She offered the sweet scent
of her neck in depth
of her love and caring,
passion soaring
above the filmy clouds.
I watched the beauty
of her like melting butter
on toast, meandering
through life and love,
together with me,
in the melody of
our shared song
wandering on our path
of soft blades of grass.
What I Find Lovely
When she goes to bed early
When I can awake before her to watch her breathe
When I can travel to distant lands, pointing out the cloud shadows on mountains
Windows down, inhaling all of the enchantments of the forests, and of course the smell of wet road
When we frolic through cornfields
When we frolic downhill to the cool blue waters of the pebbly streams
When the waves of thunder roar and lighting strikes, and she screams
Movie Friday, hot buttered popcorn and red velvet seats
The lights that dim in accordance to the screen
When she says I am pretty unexpectantly
Stacks of fluffy golden pancakes, slathered in rich maple tree cream
The sound of his tires breaking hard against the tar, feet marching on gravel
I know he is coming to hug me
When the birds are chirping to alert me it is day and the night did not kill me
I live yet another bright shinny morning
When my mother asks me if I would like tea
When the doctors tell you your all healthy
Root beer floats in icy glass mugs, with just the right amount of each
Rain on sheet metal
Wind chimes blowing in the Spring breeze
Fall time fires, crackling, glowing against the burnt orange trees
Season of the Witch, songs of the 1960s
Festivals of which I could never attend, but could dream
Wines and cheeses and revealing dresses, kisses to please
Coffee and loose talk, lavender earl grey tea
Crepes and scrapple, God have mercy!
And lots of money.
It’s 10:32 and I’m feeling euphoric
You know,
Sometimes it is good
To take a break,
and be positive.
So I'll take a step back
And spill out one of the things
I find amazing
in this world we live in
There's one concept that fascinates me the most
The human thought
This incredible gift we've all been given
Me, you, every writer, every poet, every dreamer
Every scientist, every lover, every psychopath
Every businessman, every teacher, every engineer
Every low-life, every model, every child, every disabled person
Were given
Something so simple
As the brain
and we all
think different thoughts
live on different frequencies
speak different words
some of us, bound by our thoughts,
but all of us, thinking, thinking of love
of hate
of death
of peace
of war
of happiness
of love of love of love of love-
To me, that is just astounding.
Flaws
What do I find lovely?
It's going to sound a little weird but I love people's flaws. The flaws of people are what make them unique, different, and special. And I love them.
The little dimples that people have,
A dapple of freckles spread across cheeks,
Laugh lines crinkling the eyes,
Scars anywhere and everywhere,
Stretch marks showing how much your body has handled,
Little to lots of bits of chubby fats holding in a warm heart,
Birthmarks captured in time from the very beginning...
All are unique and lovely.
But it doesn't have to be just physical attributes.
The struggle in trying to find the way to solve a problem,
Liking some weird far-out non-mainstream object or idea,
The ability to trip over air,
Rapid change of emotions,
Harsh honesty expressed by people who don't realize what they're doing,
A funny/cute burp or laugh or sneeze,
A person's infatuation over food.
All are special and pure.
Most of these are considered flaws by the general public...but to me they're cute little adorable characteristics that make me love you or a person all the more...or lovely.
Finding Lovely
Lovely is taking tea early in the morning on the verandah with honey while the birds sing and the bees kiss my roses awake.
Lovely is the pitter-pat of grand babies feet on my cement floor and also their musical giggles echoing around my door.
Lovely is an elderly face full of wrinkles and a life well lived with her own style and grace.
Lovely are the stars at night see how they sparkle how they share their light?
Are we not also ones such as these? Were we not told to share our lights with ease?
Humility in humanity is quite a lovely trait,
Though not many humans grasp its concept
it is a shame.
Lovely are children from any race any culture any species, for they see the world with wonderful new eyes so fresh from God that they are not yet hardened by life so they only know
LOVELY.
What I Find Lovely
1. A smile on a persons face.
2. A dog wagging its tail or a cat purring because it is well cared for and loved.
3. The sound of Spring when the crickets, insects, frogs and toads start singing at night.
4. The warm wind of summer on my face.
5. The smell of newly fallen rain.
6. Lightening as it strikes across the night sky.
7. The feeling of being in a warm big snugly bed in winter.
8. The uniqueness of a flower or a leaf.
9. Laughter from a little baby.
10. The way French Bulldogs snore and fart while they sleep (lol)
One Liners
Okay, so these are a bunch of one-liners that I thought of, but were never able to put into a story:
1. Wanton strokes and hips glide in the footnotes.
2. Cherry blossoms on fire.
Imagination runs wild.
3. We hold empty light bulbs in our hands, hoping the heat of our love will make them glow.
4. We were too scared to dream big in case they stayed like that: dreams.
5. I don't like horror movies, that's why I don't watch the news.
6. In the beginning, there was only darkness, infinite and resolute.
7. I wish I knew how to fall in love with strangers
But all I got was you and some twisted up anger.
8. If you can drown in only as little as an inch of water, I will pour water into my hands, cupping it, and dip my nose in, my lips pressed against my palms and think of you.
9. You age more in you youth than any other time.
10. I don't have scars on my body, but that don't mean they're any less there.
11. I like my coffee like I like my dead bodies: lukewarm.
12. Manatees.
13. The slick haze of honey in the summer light.
I realized after I write this that I am a very melancholic person, but I find these images quite lovely.
Remind me of this... and fight the good fight
Making me smile silently with these silly things
Simple beauty in this insane world
Thoughts of ducklings and standing in sunshine
A home of paradise in every picture perfect moment captured
Fresh air and trees, oh how I love trees
Singing along to my favorite tunes
Dancing from the high of a simple memory
Play fights with my troublemaking friends
Seeing something new, or for the first time in a while
When you get something just right
Sharing secrets with strangers from across the room
Finishing another book so soon
Happy endings, even if I'll deny it
Happiness in general, there isn't time in life for crying
Or liars, definitely not lies
Getting the words just right in a poem
Feeling motivated and accomplished at the same time
Eating something delicious, just because
Winning and success comes in so many forms
Doing something crazy, it's exhilarating
Living with no regrets
Talking of passions, baring your soul
The scariest are always the best
Breaking the molds of mechanical minds
Getting a chance to make a worldly difference
Paying it forward without consequence
Living with yourself in control
The power of freedom and every breath
Laughter is the best medicine, as said
Leaving the world's problems behind in the race
Accepting time, oblivion, as something you can't change
Being happy with who you are
Proving your potential
Making a change for the better
Writing this list of my thankfuls
Reminding myself of this beautiful community
And the list goes on and on
