When you’re alone and the pain takes hold,

remembering things that shouldn’t have been told.

When you’re emerged in a lot of cold water,

crying because you’re considered a “bother”.

When your heartbeat seems to stop and freeze,

chilling your insides like an icy breeze.

When your body can’t take any more weight,

burdened so much that any more it’ll break.

When you’re so numb you can’t feel a thing,

suddenly happy it’s the end of your suffering.

When you’re free of life and free of sin,

soaring until you’re born again.

I loved to go on picnics,

the beach or to the park.

I had so much fun with you,

cooking s’mores in the dark.

I was there for all the fun times,

when family came around.

More often than not though,

you’d leave me lying on the ground.

Late at night when it was cold,

I’d feel a tiny prick.

I’d look up and in my horror,

a man holding a stick.

He’d pick me up against my will,

then place me in a bag.

The smell was just so awful,

it made me want to gag.

I could feel the movement,

as the man made his round.

Afterwards I felt myself being flung,

on top of a large mound.

I could hear a ‘whooshing’ sound,

something was burning.

That was when I knew with acceptance,

that I wouldn’t be returning...

When asked what is the color of loneliness,

some often say it’s grey,

but when I think of being alone,

it‘s as blue as day.

Wide and empty as the sky,

not a cloud in sight,

the only company you have

are the stars that shine at night.

Even then you might not see them,

the clouds hiding their brilliance from view,

but that is how I often feel

when I’m not among you.

I may shine brilliantly at times,

the light casting love below,

but half of the time when I’m alone,

all you see is my shadow.

Nothing will make your chest tighten,

or tug at the strings.

You are used and don’t care,

profits it brings.

Life is a joke played on you,

a giant sham.

Living for love you ask why,

when you don’t give a damn.

Pain and suffering are natural,

they happen everywhere.

Loneliness is your friend,

without a single care.

Why have love in the world?

no one really needs it.

Sadly for a human

this is how you perceive it.

Why is the sky falling?

Many have asked.

It’s because of the angels, they say.

As they now don a mask.

To hide the hurt,

cover the pain.

Wondering why, blessed in love

humans are now insane.

Rapists are rampant,

Murderers out of control,

Kids getting shot in broad daylight,

Young disrespecting old.

Governments corrupt,

Animals going extinct

Planet is fading away, due to choices

Natural desire the link.

Why is the sky falling?

Many have asked.

Why not change our fate?

Ashes are falling

Down from the sky

Ashes falling like snow

From the mountains

Down the valley below

Ashes are falling

On me

As the sky thickens

The earth trembles

And the song on the wind

Silences those below

In the distance

I can hear their screaming

Cries for help

As they’re suffocating

Ashes falling from the sky

Covering those down below

Nothing else remains

Losing love lets loneliness linger,

Life’s lullabies lacking luster.

Letting libidinous lunatic lushes

Liquidate lost lambs.

Losing love lets lugubriosity linger,

Liveliness later lost.

Liquor lapped left loathing,

Lacerating lucidity, lynching laughter.

Losing love lets loss linger,

Liberation looking laughable.

Letting lethality loose,

Leaving lynching later.

Losing love leaves life languish,

Locating love lets life labor.

I am a star

that shines so bright,

way up high

in the moonlit night.

Looking down

on the earth below,

shining bright

just to say “hello”.

You then look up,

as if in reply

with a smile on your face,

towards the dazzled sky.

“I wish, I wish—”

you began to say

clasping hands

as if to pray.

I lean forward,

just to hear,

of your heart’s desire,

a wish so dear.

but when you spoke,

no words were said,

you just kept smiling

and turned around instead.

I was befuddled,

even confused.

What did you wish for?

I constantly mused.

A few nights later,

after watching you pray.

In the same spot,

day after day.

I noticed you were thinner,

at least that‘s what it seemed.

You looked way too skinny,

way too lean.

You also lost that twinkle,

that spark in your eye.

Did something terrible happen?

Would you tell me why?

But I never got an answer,

not even a clue.

For one day you disappeared,

out of the blue.

One day went by,

then two and three,

I began to wonder

if you forgot about me.

Then on the fourth night,

I met some nice lady,

who stood in the same spot

where you did daily.

She too looks up

at the dazzled sky,

before clasping her hands

and beginning to cry.

“Star, o’ star

shining bright,

please watch my child

as he takes flight.

May he be welcomed

with open arms

arriving in Heaven

safe from all harm.

Star, o’ star

please grant my wish,

for cancer is unfair

in a world such as this.”

With tears in her eyes,

the lady then leaves,

going on home

to continue to grieve.

I cried too,

my body burning bright,

for no longer would the boy

be visiting at night.

My body felt so hot,

I began to feel cold

it didn’t take long,

for me to explode..
