Red Ribbon, Screenwritten
I think I'm glad
That that red ribbon aisle
Was stretched between us.
Seeing you run to me
Like your life depended on it...
Tossing your coat aside for the whole world to see
Out of breath
And amber eyes shining
It would have been all I could do
To not throw myself into your
Outstretched
Strong
Loving
Arms
And you would take me
Engulf me in your
Blue plaid embrace
And spin me around and around
And I would cry
And tremble
Because I have never had
The honor
Of being held by you.
But the red ribbon
Cut the screenwritten scene
Short and awkward
As I reached for you
And pulled back
Because
Why would I think
I could now have the luxury
To embrace
You
Under any circumstance?
Regardless, it was
Flawless
In our own way
And by driving all night
Like This
You have officially shown me
What I mean to you.
And it is all too much.
I am in tears,
Even if not in your presence.
I am moved by your persistent
Love for me.
Four Year Old
Trying to explain
To a four year old boy
The difference between
A life saver
And a light saber
Is harder, it seems,
Than fitting a camel through
The eye of a needle.
But his little laugh
As he jumps into my lap,
Turns his freckled nose up at me
And says
"You can't choose!"
Somehow makes the camel
Seem a thousand times smaller.
You Think
You think you know a person
But then they open up
And pull you open with them
Till you're both lying in the dust.
You think you know a person
But then you see their face
Underneath the skin, they let you in
Without a trace.
How lovely to be trusted!
How beautiful to me!
I thought I knew a person,
...And they thought they knew me.
State of Grace
In the years that you have known someone,
Before the many years to come,
There comes a wistful feeling,
Something wonderstriking
That leaves your stone heart in a puddle back where you started from.
Most would call it an endless chase,
But I see it as a state of grace;
Not everyone gets the chance to do this:
To relive everything they missed;
So I give my love to heaven above as my heart settles into place.
