You’ve got this!
Are you kidding me? And I don't mean that negatively. You can write, you are not afraid of manual labor, you are personable, because heck, you turned to us for advice proving your vulnerability! You've got this! Go in there and strut your stuff. Sell yourself. Believe in yourself! A willing attitude is as strong as experience in the food industry. Promise them you can do the job and that you are a quick learner. Please let us know how you make out. Good luck!
ok so
1) I understand, I looked for a job for forever and work related experience was the hardest thing for me to do to
2) Literally just make things up, like if you have ever babysat for a long period of time just put, "proven responsibilty, patience, and people skills"
3) You can use school experience, "I was in the yearbook class and was responsible for writing, captioning, and organizing spreads, as well as cope with multiple pressing deadlines." Use any class that is not a core class and stands out even a little bit.
4) the making friends super easily thing is also great, especially if you can turn it into leadership skills. Put like "Capable of managing large group situations, understanding of various opinions and encouraging compromise."
5) The goat thing is very impressive btw, goats are evil
6) For the goat/ feed bag thing, "worked to care for and protect various animals, maintained responsibilty in scheduled feeding and other requirements (sorry dont knwo much about goats)
7) try to find any sort of leadership, stress coping, time management, fast learner, or anything like that
8) most companies who are sought out as first time jobs know that their applicants wont have too much experience and will be understanding of that
9) if its really well written it will say a WHOLE lot trust me
10) also (this is what I did), if you go into the place you want to work and find an important person and show enthusiasm about the job they will remember that and it will affect their decision
11) especially if you come up and say you have been offered another job but would really like to work at _insert name_ because of passion or good work environment or something
12) try not to lie, but making the truth a bit more glamorous is helpful
three ideas
1) bring out psychological attributes that are associated with the gig you are trying to land.
- talk in past tense of things like responsibility, dependability, punctuality, patience. outline to the interviewer and in the cover letter, that youre exoerience is just the sort that they need. if you worked with livestock, then you obviously have tons of experience working in high-stress, high-workload environment and that you can be relied on with equipment and inventory worth millions of dollars.
2) you might consider that as obvious, but you can count as work experience volunteer work. especialky if you can get a reference.
3) you might need to get a low-end gig for the time being. make sure at least it would be something to put on a c.v later. tons of online gigs, like content writing, teaching, editorial, sales, translation...pay is nor amazing but you add things up...
Five Ideas
1.) First impressions are key. You have to talk the talk so you can then walk the walk. Express yourself, remain calm, channel the nervousness and impress. Your best chance for a good first impression is to dress appropiately and to prove yourself to be thoughtful.
2.) Exhibit hard work. If filling out an application or given the opportunity to list your numerous responsibilites, jump on the opportunity. Hard work will separate you from the rest of the pack. Especially given this day and age, it seems to be largely shocking and even more impressive when someone exhibits hard work.
3.) Do not stress over any part of it. If you’re turned down, it just means another door opens.
4.) Stand strong and make it clear that you have a voice, and that you are serious about taking on whatever job it might be.
5.) Be yourself. (Cliche, I know)
You also are really good with words, so it will serve you will. You’re also really likable.
An example of what you could say: I am eager and very much so, driven. I handle a large amount of responsibility daily, some would say too much for one person, but I am fully capable of handling it. I have experience with handling Goats, multiple years of it. I am familiar with lifting 50 pounds of feed as work. {List further responsibilities} Rest assured that I am really familiar with responsibility and work as a whole. I would greatly appreciate a chance to prove all of my words to be true.
