The great sand barge
dreadging up sand, in great heaps, the barge leaves the eastern shores, laden and heavy with shiny golden sand from impeccably clean besches. it then moves all along the night, until it reaches it's destination in the western horzon, where this precious sand is dumped along the receding shorelines. the barge sets its sites back to its home port in the east. but without its lustrous cargo, it can not be seen in the bright light of the sun. there are days, where much sand was mined and laden on the ship, while other days, on days like that, some sand may fall off, during transit, causing the great deserts to be forever smothered in sand storms.
on other days, little sand is collected, or too much of it is spilled as the ship embarkes. obviously, the large heap is then reduced in size.
it is interesting to note, that one day every month, the barge stays in the eastern port and doesn't set sail at all.
it is sad, that with all this effort, most sand that is deposited in the western shores is carted away and used for construction purposes. it is feared by many scientists, that one day, sand will run out in the east, and the sand barge will never again set sail.
