What does the word kawaii (cute in Japanese) mean to you?
Precious
Kawaii is generally translated as "Adorable", when in fact, it can also mean precious. Often, when Japanese media is translated into English, translators make the common mistake of always translating kawaii as "cute". It's actually quite easy to tell when the mistake has occurred, such as characters saying "Stay away from my cute student!" Or "Where is my cute Alice?!"
So, next time you hear the word kawaii, remember they're basically calling something precious.

I’m not sure though, i didn’t research. Correct me if my sources are wrong so i could kill them....Ofcourse im kidding---not >:p
Japanese use that annoying kawaii (cute) face during world war so that soldiers will not kill them. "Too cute and too innocent" or the " doll like" look can spare them from their death. Hence, the peace sign and cute smile that is now commonly used when taking selfies.
