the deceiving sun

grazes clouds,

cool air

drapes along my shoulders,

a gust of wind

fluttering, dancing

throughout my hair

shivers down my spine

when will the sun stop lying?

the sort of chill that pinches your cheeks and bites your nose

blue sky deceiving

no clouds to coat us in warmth

shivering in our shoes

toes curl

breath fogs

Last week

We basked in seventy degrees

Uncharacteristic for fall

in Chicago

Today

we have bitter air, that

cold front barreled in

shifting fog to frost,

dropping feather light

snow

grey,cloudy and cool

enough to feel it

coming through glass

it's wisps reaching like tendrils

while I wonder

how the dress code of so many

completely denies

the weather
