When I was 5, I

Had the same nightmare 

Every night

Then crawled into 

My parent's bedroom

For comfort

As if they were

Going to ward off the spirits.

It wasn't even

Much of a nightmare. 

I was walking with my 

Older brother

Out of the library, 

And there were two paths 

One on either side. 

And on one, there was this 

Dark mist covering it, 

Cracks on the sidewalk. 

On the other, 

It was bright and sunny. 

So my brother

Chose the brighter path

But I got bored

And said to him,

"Why don't we ever try

The one on the left?"

He stopped walking,

Looked back, 

And started walking to 

The mist.

Eager, I joined him

And we were both

Swallowed by darkness. 

I've had lots of dreams,

But one stood out from the rest.

It was a stormy night and I

Was cold but not alone.

And as I walked along a narrow

Path, someone stood in front of me,

Brows furrowed, lips curled back

To reveal an angry sneer, and when

I got closer, and the lightning 

Struck nearby, I saw that the person

Was actually myself.
