Death Clock

Alarming clock

ticking on wall,

thinking of ways

to kill us all,

sharpening hands

and honing minutes.

Every second counts

as it lays its plan,

circling around

to entrap your soul.

Just when you think

you’re safe

to come out of

your chair,

scrambling

to safe haven,

hands reach out

around your neck.

Tick tock -

you’re dead!

Moments of time

have absconded,

screams fade,

as clock

tick tocks.

The Noise is Crushing Me

Do you know what it's like to sit tied to a chair with nothing but a large wall clock whose pendulum moves slowly back and forth? Ten seconds one way, tick, ten seconds the other way, tock. There are no minute or hour hands on the contraption. Hell, I don't even know why I would call it a clock. It's not.

The room is only ten by ten with walls at least fifteen feet tall. At the top of two of the walls are small windows that are facing north and south. Not east and west with bright sunlight, no way, north, and south. The light is dull, nothing more than dull. Just enough light for my eyes to follow the pendulum. Tick,-------tock.

I don't know what I did or who I might have done something too, but this is maddening. I figure I've been here two days without moving. The stench of my body is revolting. I've had neither food nor drink, tick-----tock.

There is nothing to do but think. Even that is becoming difficult. Just now it stopped, There is no tick, tock, tick, tock. I can take a breath now that it's quiet, too quiet. Are they going to leave me here with no sound except the sound of my thoughts? I was startled out of my malaise when the door's bolt suddenly moved with a crash and opened.

"Hello, hello," I said.

Moments later two hooded figures entered the small room caring a large object draped in a heavy blanket. They stepped behind me and I could hear them rustling but I couldn't see them. I heard the blanket slide and could see part of it on the floor. I heard something bump against the wall. Then, after picking up the blanket, the two figures left the room.

"Wait come back, who are you? What am I doing here?"

The door slammed and the bolt slid back into place. At first, I wasn't sure but then it began. The noise behind me, tick----------tock, tick---------tock. The other clock began again but faster this time. Tick--tock, tick--tock, tick--tock, tick---tick-----tock--tock, tick--tick--tock------tock.

I can't think. I can feel my mind fading into a dark nothing. Tick, tick, tock,----tock. The noise is crushing me.
