I - poetry:
Eyes meet
hearts stop
hands sweat
and tremble
thoughts
scatter
unifying
in the single
overwhelming
truth
that at last
one is
complete
the emptiness
unrecognized
till it was no more
is now filled
the heart
is whole
life can begin...
again.
II - Prose:
Dana and Marla worked together the summer before Dana started graduate school. All Dana did was work, apartment hunt, and read in preparation for her classes in the fall. Convinced that Dana needed to get out and live a little, Marla suggested that she visit her favorite café to check out one of the counter people.
“He’s a hottie,” she told her.
“We’ll see,” Dana responded, thinking, I don’t have the time or the money...
A few days later, Dana stopped by the café Marla had mentioned to pick up a shake to have with the sandwich she had brought from home. As she stood in line to order, HE looked up and their eyes met.
Was he the man Marla meant for her to meet? She had never described him nor pointed him out to Dana. But in that moment, she knew with every part of her being that he was the one meant for her.
Fortunately, he had the same feeling of “I have been waiting for you all my life.”
And they lived happily ever after...with the requisite amount of anger, elation, frustration, satisfaction, tears, joy, sadness and laughter to keep it interesting. :-)
