Testing the Waters
Love laps at the shore of your soul,
tickles,
like waves licking bare toes,
you want to flee
from the fresh surprise
of frothy kisses
reviving your need;
Lace your fingers in mine,
intertwine,
hold my hand and wade
into the refreshing sea,
we'll test the waters again,
paddling far beyond the
dry sands of our broken hearts.
Until Summer
Beyond the shade of graceful pines,
within stone walls of old design,
flower beds, dormant still,
deny demands that purpose fill.
When Spring- no, Summer! comes,
breathing grass and blossoms,
yearning fades to perfumed joy and petal days,
while fragrant vines, enchanted, climb
upon the trellis of a gardener's mind.
Bath Time Sonnet
In steeping bath of bergamot and thyme,
Of love besot, in winter’s garden play,
With silken skin afresh in scents sublime,
With me, my love, afloat in fragrance, stay.
Into this pond of sacred water dive -
My body’s slick with precious oils’ film -
Seek out my breath and penetrate my hive,
In pools of sweat, my love, to drown or swim.
Dear Holy Ghost, as jasmine fountains spray,
In watr’y light absolve a virgin’s stains,
My heart shall bleed and on my knees I pray,
Have mercy, Lord, for passion floods my veins.
Disperse these healing herbs to cure and cleanse,
Allow us time for love and grace dispense.
Jealousy
As fog and mist occlude the branching tree,
As wisps of cloud and rain do vision blur,
So I shall pluck the roving eyes from thee
That cast your gaze and Cupid’s spells on her.
In ceremonious magician's cape,
I'll dismember your rotten, putrid corpse
And grant your loathsome heart no fair escape,
Deny it's woeful pleas for just recourse.
Of morbid end let cunning lovers fear,
Confess your lies, reveal your guts, my dear.
Sonnet : Love and Death
(Not sure if I'm doing this right, but tried to follow the rules.)
Alone, no breath upon my neck tonite,
Bereft, so cold, the heat of passion passed,
Lamenting life on wings in hasty flight
Away, away, so far from human grasp.
In fear I cringe yet by my side you rest,
In darkness dwell, in morbid time project,
What twist of mind, what mental game, what test?
Corrupted vow to honor and protect?
As blood still flows and lungs inhale the day,
Let souls unite, our hearts together twined
We’ll greet the sun and join it on its way,
No more, no more, in fearful tears drown time.
I prayed an angel rescue me from grief
Now dread he'll go and death be my relief.
