A Note to My Demons
You get
quiet
some days
and I wonder where you've gone
afraid of the return
with that part of my insides between my lungs and my stomach
because you always do.
There's nowhere to hide from you
but you blanket me in nothingness
and coax me to the void.
Molecular scale seduction.
Your truths are silk spider web tapestries
weaving sticky stories
so well designed
I can't look away.
Remember?
That one moment when your heart fluttered
And your eyes shone
And your mind thought of nothing but the present
Remember?
When you couldn't stop smiling
And your stomach was soaring
And all of your worries disappeared
Remember?
That time you stopped searching
And happiness found you
And settled so softly in your soul
Remember?
I know you do
Because look at that smile, feel the blush in your cheeks
That says you know it was true
To Describe Love
To describe love
Is to turn the ocean into a song
How could anyone turn that
Churning, waving, crashing
Glittering, electric lapping
Into a melody
To describe love
Is to paint a picture of a sunset
How could the paint change with every passing moment
Burn and blush and bleed and awe
To describe love
Is to rip the wings off of a butterfly
To demonstrate their beauty
Leaving the poor creature useless and broken
To describe love
Is a feat many will try
So I suggest you live it and feel it
And you'll see that no description comes close to Love
Paper Soul
She is beautiful
Rough edges
And a cracked spine
Never turn away those
Who have a hungry mind
She is immortal
Ink blood
Flows through her soul
She has a thousand hearts
Beating young and old
She is strong
Countless caresses, slams
Excited gasps and relieved sighs
Leave her core untouched
Though she stirs some mighty minds
She is a song
Spend some time with her
Listen to her words
Her tune may change, but the music will not fade
In your voice those notes will be heard
She is a part of you
Every reader leaves their mark on her surface
A finger print, a bent page, a smear
And she leaves hers on your mind, your heart and your soul
Where it shines through you like sunbeams, or moonlight or maybe even just a single twinkling star
