The girl fell in love with Sally in March, when the air was as thick and warm as blood, when the school gardens were finally stirring from sleep, when Sally, sitting in class, accidentally loosened the top few buttons of her uniform - the girl poured her spirit onto paper in ecstasy. Sister Grace found the letters sitting on top of her dresser.
