Silent Love
I watched him,
Staring at me.
I fought away the feelings
That I knew I carried for him.
My eyes moved to his lips,
As I dared to daydream
About kissing him:
Slowly and passionately.
I fought the urge
To hug and hold him.
All I wanted to do
Was keep him warm.
He is my best friend,
I do not wish
To break him,
As he tries to fix
my broken, jagged pieces
Of a heart that never was,
Quite complete, because some fathers,
Disappear before their daughters
Can open their eyes and cry.
