From the Deep
You tossed me to the waves,
And expected me to drown.
But the oceans cold embrace
Never pulled me down.
Taming currents in my blood,
The sea sang my name
When I discovered Poseidon's wrath
Pooling in my veins.
And with each salty breath,
My rebellious lungs learned to thrive
With the sea raging in my soul
And the blinding lightning in my eyes.
So bring me your darkened skies,
Your deafening thunder and your rain,
And I'll breathe in this whirling maelstrom,
And exhale a hurricane.
