Tricked
Brimstone was already a spooky town. But when Halloween arrives, it becomes spookier.
All the kids in Brimstone ran from house to house, collecting as much candy as they could fill in their bags. Four boys ran up to a house and rang its doorbell. A lady dressed as a witch answered their summoning.
“Trick or Treat!” they eagerly said.
The lady smiled. “Wow, what amazing costumes." she said. "Such attention to detail.” her eyes scanned each of their costumeds. Three of them looked demonic with black, soulless eyes, pointed ears, and toothy smiles. They also had their skins painted crimson red like serpent scales or blood. Two of them had small horns planted on their heads—the tallest of the four had horns on his bald head while the shortest had his horns puncturing through his red baseball cap. She then noticed that one of the boys lacked any horns on his shaggy black-haired head but had a thin, arrow-tipped tail dragging along his behind. But the fourth boy looked the most oddish. These three were clearly dressed as devils but their fourth member was far different from his friends. No horns or tails. His appearance was more human but had painted lilac skin. Oddly, his skin tone matched his hair that was shaved into a spikey mohawk, and his eyes matched his skin as well.
"They almost seem real." she said. Shrugging it off, she dropped a handful of candy into each of their bags. The boys thanked her and ran off. The lady waved goodbye and wished them all a Happy Halloween. Before she could close the door, she squinted back. Something looked off. That prosthetic tail that was attached behind one of the boys, did it just wave back?
The lady was petrified as a statue. Did she see that right? The tail was moving? Or perhaps she the couple too many jack-o-lantern jell-o shots she celebrated with her friends beforehand were taking some effect.
Far away, the four boys ran down the street, laughing like gleeful jackels. There was a truth to these four boys: they were in fact children, but they weren't from this world.
They were demons.
Two of the boys were common demons. Purebloods. The lilac, mohawked, humanish boy was a young incubus. The fourth that was a combination of the two demon breeds—with his pointed ears, black hair, and serpentine tail—was their leader and the offspring of a common demon and a succubus.
They took a portal from the Inferno to the human world. Wide smiles filled their inhuman faces when they at their collection for the night. All of this for free candy.
“I told you guys this was an easy way to get Halloween candy," Dominic Doomslayer said.
“Great idea, Dominic.” his taller friend said.
"Wher'ya reckon we go next?" the demonic boy with the baseball cap then asked.
“Hey," the incubus pointed at the yellow house across from them. "let’s hit that house next.”
The four agreed and raced each other towards their next house, laughing all the way into that dark Brimstone night.
“And then later," the taller boy spoke again. "we should stop back at Lord Lucifer’s house so Dominic can get Kisses from his daughter.” he joked.
“Shut up! And she's his stepdaughter!”
