Summer Goodbyes
It’s disappearing. A little colder now, I suppose. Every trace of wind that whistles past my skin brings a hint of summer that’s fading. And it makes me so afraid because it reminds me that -
You’re fading too.
I can’t seem to remember why, how, or even where - the slivers of time seem to slip past my fingers and swirl around me as if in mockery -
If my memory used to be the only guarantee that you ever existed, then now, the only thing left is the throbbing sensation in my chest whenever the thought of you being just a figment of my imagination flickers past my mind.
I don’t know who you are
what your name is
where you’re from -
But I think I know that
I loved you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the colours swirl
but the world is going into monochrome
they tell me that I’m the one dreaming
but I seem to be the only one awake.
summer slips silently away
colours that have brightened my days do too
will
you?
you still owe me a goodbye, after all.
