Dimorphodon
Name: Dimorphodon (Die-Morf-Oh-Don)
Name Means: “Two Form Tooth”
Dimorphodon was a flying reptile that lived during the early Jurassic Period. It was first discovered by Richard Owen, one of the pioneers of paleontology. It was a relatively small reptile, roughtly about 3 feet (1 m) in length with a 4-5 (4.6 m) foot wingspan. This pterosaur is unique due to having sharp teeth in its beak, a characteristic not found in most pterosaurs. What makes this interesting is that Dimorphodon has two distinct types of teeth, which is found in most mammals, hence the name meaning "two form tooth". Its diet may have consisted of small reptiles, insects, and fish.
This small pterosaur has made a few appearances in media such as the dinosaur hunting computer game Carnivores and more recently the Jurassic World films.
