Xenoceratops
Name: Xenoceratops (Zee-No-Ser-Ah-Tops)
Name Means: “Alien horned face”
Xenoceratops was a quadrapedal ceratopsid dinosaur that roamed North America during the Late Cretaceous (78 million years ago). It grew to about 18 feet in length (6 m) and weighed around 3 tons. Like all ceratopsids it was an herbivore, grazing on shrubs and low hanging plants.
One look at this dinosaur and you would think that it gets its name from its alien looking appearance with the two large horns on its frill, the two brow horns, and the lack of a nasal horn, a characteristic found in most ceratopsids. But the truth is it received its name 'alien horned face' refers to it being the first ceratopsid to have been discovered in the Foremost Formation in Foremost, Alberta, which was quite an extraordinary discovery.
