“You can call me Leftover. After Hugh’s associate failed, this was all that was left of me. But when I am done with them, there will be nothing left at all.”
- Leftover
Leftover is a young man whose body consists of a featureless dark silhouette. Before he was altered he was Lenny Overature, a royal prince who was set to succeed his father as king in the country of Prosperity. He wished to join Hugh’s hero network and was unknowingly tricked by his father’s advisor Bill, who disguised himself as Hugh in order to steal Lenny’s features and pose as him to become king. Mirk from Hugh’s hero network sent Bill to the Reflection Dimension, expecting the villain to change his ways and return. Bill did not return, leaving Lenny stuck in a silhouette form. He became Leftover and vowed to destroy Hugh and his hero agency, and replace them with his own hero team. Leftover is the main antagonist of the short stories from “The Ultimate Hero Network? A Short Story Collection” (https://theprose.com/book/3184/the-ultimate-hero-network-a-short-story-collection) and a minor antagonist in the spinoff series “New Adventurers: Enter The Pirate & Crew!” (https://theprose.com/book/3137/new-adventurers-enter-the-pirate-crew).
Originally a young man with good intentions and a love for heroes, the slightly mischievous prince became a calculating, hateful person once he was trapped in the form of a silhouette. He accepted his place as king to gain access to the resources he would need to enact his plan to eliminate Hugh and his team. Leftover’s natural charisma and leadership skills (possibly from being royalty) no doubt assisted him in recruiting valuable allies for his cause - most having special abilities. Leftover’s allies include CCC, a man who can customize the look of anyone for an hour (this has allowed Leftover to trick the kingdom into thinking his silhouette condition is cured). Leftover also rescued a giant goblin named Hypnorc from being captured in the North Pole, and the orc’s hypnotic abilities have enabled Leftover to manipulate his father into convincing the rest of the kingdom that his silhouette form is healed. Hypnorc was also a key player in a scheme where Leftover was able to steal a modded helmet from Hugh, which has given him access to the technology that Hugh and his team use for their heroic work. Other allies Leftover has gained include a toxins expert named Doctor Sic, a man named Willy that can turn himself and others into worms, and a woman calling herself Anti-Hero that has the powers of the helmets Hugh uses within her body. Leftover also plotted a successful prison escape for formerly incarcerated foes Hall and Gull. Leftover attempted to recruit a villain named Lifer, but Lifer was defeated, depowered, and reformed instead by Hugh’s team.
Although Leftover’s team is smaller than Hugh’s global network, he still believes his group is superior. He refers to his team as a group of queen chess pieces due to their special abilities, and mockingly calls most of Hugh’s allies pawns, as most of Hugh’s team only has their special abilities through the use of the helmets that provide their enhanced skills. Leftover remarked that although Hugh has a worldwide network, he only notices a handful of heroes being deployed in their missions on a regular basis.
Leftover is skilled with swordplay and shooting due to initially training to join Hugh’s network, and from the enhancements with his stolen helmet. When using the helmet for heroics he uses the alias Larry. He has shown immunity to Doctor Sic’s toxins and Willy’s ability to turn others into worms. Leftover has acted as a test subject for one of Doctor Sic’s toxins, implying that he can willingly be infected if he wishes.
Despite mostly successful recruitments of other villains, most of Leftover’s schemes have failed. He even attempted to win a Prose writing challenge by cheating, a plot that did not gain him the prize. However, he recently organized a trap that successfully resulted in the death of Hugh’s associate Mirk, whom had played a crucial role in Leftover’s creation. He is currently seeking an ally that can produce more helmets based on his stolen one, so that he can grow his army further.
Leftover enjoys watching his enemies suffer and fail, but does show staunch loyalty to his allies. He promised the recently recruited Anti-Hero that he would help her kill the warlock that cursed her husband once Hugh is gone. While trapped in a dream Leftover thought he was initially cured, and he showed signs of his humanity still being present due to his willingness to abandon his agenda and return to a normal life. His recent point of no return moment of killing Mirk suggest that this humanity is likely no more. Leftover likes playing the long game, and looks forward to slowly dismantling Hugh and his organization over time....
