Future self

for a while i didn't expect myself to stay

i thought my future was in my grave

but recently a few rays of hope

have come and knocked upon my door

with the trust that i had left

i opened up a little bit

and the bags under my eyes

are slowly dissapearing

so i write to you

a letter to someone else that is myself

only with a few gray hairs

did you take advantage of the crack in the door

did you open it up wide

and run with the dreams of mine?

do you have a husband or wife?

kids with curly hair that you braid at night?

do you work with the children

that some say didn't devlope "quite right"?

i wonder who you are

and if you are what you want to be

did i grow up to be enough

adequate and plenty of

i guess soon i will see
