Philippians 3:12-13 - Growing Through Imperfection To The Future (Bible Journal)
"I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead (Philippians 3:12-13 NLT)."
We are in good company with being imperfect. Paul accomplished great things for God's Kingdom (even more impressive considering that he initially served as an antagonist), but he also never achieved perfection in his lifetime. The odds of us doing the same are also unlikely, but that is what makes us human, and in need of God's grace. Like Paul did with his life, we should continue to work on improving, blessing others, and strengthening our bond with God through our journey with Him. As for "forgetting the past," I don't think the call is to ignore it, but to be sure to learn from it and not stay stuck there.
Lord, thank You for seeking a relationship with an imperfect dude like me. Thank You for the good and bad from my past, and thank You for the hope of a bright future, especially eternity with You. I may never reach perfection in this life, but please help me to keep changing for the better, and please let my life be one that is beneficial to You and those I interact with. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
