Challenge
What is destiny? What is fate?
Greetings and Farewell, and Hello again
Into the miasma of conditioning
You're borne.
A plethora of bodies,
Chemical, all, at war.
Influence, influenced by
That vacuum of choice;
As deep as sleep,
As relative in kind.
For fate is not built,
Nor prescribed,
But shaped
One consequence at a time.
A misstep,
A revelation.
True elation,
Sorely bereft.
The apology,
The abortion,
False modesty,
Contortion.
To promise,
To know.
To be honest
Tomorrow.
To promise this,
To learn to lie.
To witness bliss,
To watch love die.
One more intrusion,
One more delusion.
Sorrow that ends,
Death of a friend.
Superfluous,
Serendipitous,
To lust,
To trust.
And death,
What can be said?
An end,
A breath?
Fate is opportunity spent
With chance to marginalise.
Oversimplify to sympathise
The end that is meant.
