Consuming fire
I let my memories of the forgotten past,
burn away at the sorrows
and pain I had experienced
in times gone.
Now they have resolved into
ash.
The weight I carried, simply dissipated, no longer was I in dismay.
The chains that grounded me
to the melancholy of the past, broke its link with me,
when I, in desperation, knelt down oft and prayed.
Then, I, like a bird freed from prison walls, flew away.
In my head, I pictured how
the flames danced and swayed
as it took my brokenness away.
It was then that a new beginning, a fresh start had begun, bringing with it much needed peace and calm to
take its place.
