For Sinead
Everybody loved you, when you sang of how love grows. Years pass by, they disappeared and that's how the story goes. You stole the admiration of a lover, took his name. Brought him children and they loved you, you loved them just the same. Seasons changing, felt your circumstances start to twist. Dark slips in, your nails cut into your angry fist. Mad the dark has dimmed your world, the fog distorts your view. Strangers stare, where once stood the family that you knew. Your reflection like a puzzle, your smile is a mask. 'How long will you indulge your sadness', he coldly asks. The answer slips your mind as he's packing his suit case. All this time, don't dare rewind, hoping to erase. Now the room, your solitude, a prison in your head. Days are short and night grows long, you rarely leave your bed. Your singing voice now only used to recite all of your pain. Hoping they will hear your cry and love you once, again.
