Unclench My Hands
Thunder weeps its beauty in arctic waters
pale face sits suspended from reality
endless tears in frosted crystal pain
chilling whispers penetrate my soul.
Sobs of racing ocean storms
snow pounding my core in sleeted hurt
searching numbly for the distant shore
frozen by the breath of the frigid world.
Sun withers in absence of daylight
I am unheard and unseen, exhaled
by grey hordes of iced tomorrows
absent from yesterday's scenic paths.
I beg to climb in dead winter skies
warm my faint heart's weak pulse
unclench my hands and face the future.
Humanity holds my hand, steam arises
flaming icy walls of sorrow with warmth
struggling to reach out of shallow iced basin.
And so it happened - my body frozen in place
while my heart raced like a wild horse
as the thaw began, melting my numb heart.
