#MondayMotivation - Bookstores &Libraries
Another week, another Monday. Time to bring on Prose #mondaymotivation
We’re going to take a slightly different tack this week as we offer up snippets of five of the books currently available in the bookstore for free; that you that you can, should you wish, pop into your library.
Yes, in case you missed it, last week we rolled out ew features on the iOS version as well as on the website. What this means is that everyone can build up their own library with content from other Prosers as well as some of the classics in Literature.
You’ll find single chapters of works-in-progress, short stories as well as fully formed books from all genres and for all tastes, that you can save to your library for reading later. Very soon, you will be able to buy books to read online, on tablets and smartphones. The links are via ‘Explore, Books, Bookstore/Library’. The rest we hope is self-explanatory.
Anyone can publish free books but should you wish to publish your words to sell on our bookstore you have to first apply to be a partner. Once approved, you will be able to load them up to be read for free, until the release of paid bookstore real soon. When that is released, Prose will be offering the best rates available in the publishing industry. We hope that motivates you this Monday.
This week’s chosen excerpts are:
#1 - Ink from the Pen: A Memoir of Prison by @MarkOlmsted
“That Monday, we were called to be interviewed individually by one of the deputies who supervised the “K-11” dorms. Their job was to make sure no one was faking being gay to avoid the far more violent regular dorms, although plenty who’d learned the names of a few gay bars routinely got through. I passed with flying colors, of course, and the kindly and avuncular “Deputy Mike” actually took me personally to the property room to retrieve my glasses.”
#2 - Stop Looking At Me: A short story by @wakingsunshine
“I can feel the warmth of a salty dew drop down my cheek, and my body is wracked with this overwhelming need to scream. Sobbing into you, it's all I can do. Push me away. Stop being so kind. Why would you ever embrace a monster like me?”
#3 - TIME SWIM: A Book in progress by @MEsolushospes
“After all these years, the split stream actually happened. Unfathomably, Yon was left with the realization it didn't happen the way he remembered it. He remembered infinite versions of himself dying an infinite number of ways in the split, but the way it split had never changed, it had always happened the same way, in slight variations, but the same way.”
#4 - Kaylie's Revenge: A Book by @troy
“My Uncle was checking me out.
It felt weird. Actually, no. It felt weird that it didn't feel weird. It felt nice. If he weren't married to my Aunt, and he was just some random guy at a party checking me out, I'd be totally into it.
I was totally into it now.”
#5 - Alpha Female: A Book by @ClaireChesnut
“Where are we going, little mate,” I said well walking now beside her. She spun around so she was walking backwards and smiled at me. She placed a finger to lips. I watched as she transported herself away. “Jadain? Where did you go?” I asked well spinning around in circles.
Her brothers came running down the hall with their mates. They stopped and bowed towards me. I rolled my eyes at them, “Your sister just disappeared on me.”
We hope you enjoy these and all the others currently in the bookstore (link attached).
The content will grow day by day, so do keep checking back. Meanwhile, if you have any questions or suggestions as to what you would like to see; then we will always welcome your messages on info@theprose.com
