Lying Eyes
One would think that
Eyes tell the truth
But this is not so
For eyes are merely
Puppets of the mind
A slave to the puppeteer
Eyes are the ones
That see your reflection
But the mind views it
Differently
With holes and gaps
And added pieces
No wonder you
See a monster
A shred of human
Not worthy of
Existence
'Is this the truth?'
You ask yourself
The mind responds
Loud and clear
'You are different
Flawed and imperfect
Everyone looks down on you
Because you
Don't belong'
You are alone
Alone in darkness
Only the sound
Of salty tears and
Broken spirits
No ones coming
Because they don't
Know that you exist.
You don't exist
Not anymore.
Finger Painting on a Rainy Day
Streaks of paint on rosy cheeks
Don't forget that something reeks
Eyes that twinkle with delight
But you're painting in the night...
Your palate has one color only
Don't dismay, it's never lonely
You've made a room and tiny bed
So much to do with the color red
Outside, there brews a storm
But sticky paint keeps you warm
If you run out, there's always more
From the body on the floor
The canvas has a cheery glow
Let the velvet blood red paint flow
Sticky paint stains your fingers
Don't try to wash-it always lingers
Don't forget to clean up after
Or mom won't let you paint hereafter
Finger painting is such fun
After all your work is done
Clean your brushes, mop the floor
Then the body, you must store
Preserve the paint in silver foil
Wrap it tight so it won't spoil
I'll hang my painting in my room
A reminder of impending doom
We've had such fun with paint today
Let's hope the rain is here to stay
Is it possible
To see without eyes?
Or think with no mind?
You say no
But I can show you different
First my father died
A noose replaced his necktie
Then mother
One too many sleeping pills
My cousin next
champion swimmer
Found floating
Enough blood to fill a swimming pool
Nine year old sister
Didn't show up
to school in her bus
She was under it
Grandfather
Passed in his sleep
Aunt Judith
Tounge-tied
On her wrist
My best friend
Eyes gouged out
Arms where legs should be
And now
left here it's only me
The house
Dark and quiet
This room is square
My bed in one corner
In the other-a chair
In the light
Empty
But darkness falls
And eerie shadows
Dance the walls
I know he's there
He's waiting, patiently
In the chair that breathes
And lives and sees
It's watching me
I can't see him but
He can see me
I hear his presence
Whispers so quietly
"Time to die"
Manifestation of Time
Time dances and flirts away
you realize, to your dismay
it can't be caught and can't be chased
it vanishes and gets replaced
with sorrow, loss and deep regret
the thing you want, you'll never get
the idea forms, it manifests
sneaks in close, then comes to rest
catching time is simple, see
the game is based on jealousy
only you can stop the game
in doing so, must snuff the flame
you now play a game of chance,
you're life's the wager, take a glance
the truth- it blossoms before your eyes
pupils widen with surprise
the idea that had taken hold,
it shrinks away, a tale untold
but a shadow lingers, can't you see?
the manifestation of your destiny
