Hush, hush
(Whispers)
I’m going to tell you the truth
(Loudly)
Once upon a time,
There was a little girl,
Sweet and innocent,
(Whispers)
Actually she was a bit of a wimp,
With an abusive mother,
And a drunkard of a father,
(Loudly)
And on her way she met
The dreadful dragon,
(Whispers)
In fact, the dragon might have been good
Or simply, misunderstood -
(Loudly)
But then the prince appeared
And slayed the beast,
(Whispers)
But maybe the dangerous one
Was really the prince…
(Loudly)
And they lived happily ever after…
(Whispers)
Or that is what we like to believe.
My secret is
I don’t believe in fairy tales
Anymore.
