Death will welcome me
I dance with death
Every day.
He greets me,
Expecting me to
Come and see him,
As I have so often before,
And now do again.
He takes me
By the hand
And leads me
In his dance.
There is no music
But the sound of
His words.
As they drum
Off my ears.
I can’t hear him
I can’t see him
I can’t move.
Because
I am lost
In darkness
But he takes me
And he speaks to me.
Without words,
Without meaning.
But the feeling I get
When he pushes me
Away.
And I am thrown
Into the pain of life
Again.
But I know
And he knows
That I will visit him
Again
Soon.

I must make it through
Come, walk with me
And I’ll show you, all you could be.
A speaker, whose heart is heard beating through the veins of nations.
A listener, who can catch a tear before it falls and stop a jump before it’s gone.
A shadow, to be there as the backbone of the body, holding a hand.
A beacon, to see another’s darkness and illuminate the path and be their guide.
Look at all the things we could do
Together
Now you can see,
Why you shouldn’t give up on me.
I was given to you, I am a gift
And I give you the present.
