“The Swing”, Jean-Honoré Fragonard
Blue skies and a nice breeze,
My lover and I completely at ease.
The clouds stroll by just one by one,
Dancing, floating, and having fun.
Life is light and it glows from within,
Where something must end another will begin.
Musical notes seem echo all around,
But instruments cannot be seen nor found.
Dance with me, will you?
Or stay for a few?
Just to delight in your company for a moment or two.
Just until we see the early morning dew.
Nothing but the Truth
True words are spoken with conviction.
They spill from the lips with nectar and POISON,
Soothing the soul or adding INJURY to one's ego.
JUSTICE lives in the depths of true words.
To SAVOR the truth, you must be of it,
Never going AGAINST its nature by soiling yourself with lies.
An EAGLE flies with truth under its wings.
A PUPPY begins his life with truth under his paws and runs with ease.
LOVE in its entirety is truth.
To IGNORE that love is true, is to unbalance the SCALE that is life,
To HORRIFY the soul,
And to LAUGH at all kindness and fairness.
We BEGIN life as a fresh, plump grape filled with truth,
Then the sun dries us OVER time with hurt and lies.
We are then as RAISINS,
Forever retaining the FLAVOR of the lies we have absorbed.
Like a flower still yet a BULB, we bloom slowly.
Climbing the climbs on the tree of life,
Then we fall to the ground like an APPLE,
AFRAID to get up again for fear of being stricken by a SWORD of the enemies lies.
Yet, as resilience resides within the heart of every person,
We rise again,
To fight forever, the battle of truth and lies,
In the ongoing war of life.
Remember?
Do you remember the breeze that flowed through the trees,
On that afternoon we ran through the field and fell to our knees?
Filled with life and joy,
And a peace that no man could destroy.
Do you remember how it was when the nighttime came,
As stars filled the sky with beauty, bold and untamed?
Or perhaps the time when laughter left you breathless,
While we cartwheeled through the street, happy yet reckless?
Do you remember the time when freedom touched your soul,
As we made our own decisions with no one to control?
As I look back now, all things have changed,
Turned over and flipped, unorganized and disarranged.
But I hold on to the memories from a time that was free,
Just life and laughter, you and me.
Time dissipates into dust and flies away,
But do you remember all that I asked you today?
The Ticking of the Clock
Time is death looking you in the face every single day. It's the silent antagonist in everyone's stories. The worst kind of enemy is the one you cannot see. The most dangerous, is the one you cannot defeat. That is time. You make the most of the time you have, yet it never seems to be enough to accomplish everything you feel you need to. To see everything there is to see. Time is the sand in the hourglass that runs out when you're not looking.
Happiness
The smell of fresh pastries wafting towards me,
Good hair days and climbing a tree,
Meditating in a garden while shooing a bee,
These are the things that make me happy.
A kitten wrapped around my leg,
Scrambling a newly cracked egg,
Receiving without having to beg,
These are the things that make me happy.
The smiling faces of those I love,
All the blessings that come from above,
To love and so be beloved,
These are the things that make me happy.
Stormy Days
Just a little sunshine to end this rainy day,
And take all the pain and worry far away.
No one had found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow,
Until someone let all their fear and negativity go.
All storms pass if you'll only give it time,
Right when it's heaviest, you're almost at your prime.
Yolks are soft until touched by heat, then they harden with strength that can't be beat.
