Fish river canyon
A starred iris across a lidless sky,
Drawing in to lay upon a dusky bed of dying crimson and amber,
Warmth of gold hangs effortlessly on a scene of towering walls and petrified woods,
The dance and sing, of a mighty river ring,
I cup the orb within palms wrought raw and harrowed ebon,
As spires of fading daylight throw motley shadows with final throws of passing glory.

As we lay
For as we lay,
The sun, the moon, the stars at play.
Ivory limbs framed casually,
A midnight velvet sea of stars and night.
Whispers caught like fireflies in webbed constraint,
A little closer, a little closer,
A bridge of ecstatic breath.
The lights above, shadows between,
Cold to the touch; icy embers ignite goosebumped delight.
Call me yours, for you are mine,
Across the spaces, flesh and time.

Die a little
Why’s the first thing I see your lips,
And I find my hands running over your hips?
If I pulled the moon from the heavens,
Would you mouth those three words in sixes and sevens?
Could I,
Walk beside,
Your drops of sunshine?
Could you hold me near,
Over there and over here?
Know I would,
If you said we could,
But die a little within the arms of the other.
