Another You
We study all the time about the world.
About what goes on outside ourselves.
About the sun and the moon and places far beyond.
But what goes on inside our minds?
What makes us who we are, as individuals, and as humans?
What instincts overtake us,
making decisions that we don't consciously know
till a moment after the process is already over inside us?
We tend to push the thoughts away
because we know that what has to happen will happen.
What we don't realize is that we can do so much more
if we knew our own uses.
We have more to learn about the ourselves,
as who we are and our purpose,
than we have to learn about other grand things!
Take a moment
to recognize the other you
inside yourself.
Creeped
The creepy door;
The creepy gate;
The creepy sound
that makes you wait;
If you're reading this,
it's already too late.
The creepy portrait placed
creepily from bottom to top;
The creepy prop most definitely doesn't
look like a creepy prop;
If you're reading this,
well, you've got to stop.
You're reading on (!)
I know as a fact.
In my creepiness,
have I lacked?
I used the word 'creepy'
exactly eight times.
I made sure
every paragraph rhymes!
Well, hopefully something else
will scare you hard.
(Here's a hint:
It's not my report card.)
Rain
As it pours down outside,
and I sit here going type, type, type,
so many thoughts fill my head.
Perhaps as many as there are
drops of water from the sky.
About today and tomorrow,
about this and that.
And I wonder,
will I be able to collect my thoughts,
and sit down for one evening
that I can give to just myself?
When nobody else will awake me,
and when I can be myself,
without the world's opinion and knowing.
A place where I can blanket myself
with my own two arms,
and cuddle up, and forget
about everything I know.
And all of this
lulls me into sleep,
and my thoughts are washed away.
The rain pours on.
Daring My Dream
The night
my dream came,
I was transported
to the clouds.
And it was beautiful.
The full moon
just within my reach,
and the whole sky lit up
with stars,
and my cloud
glowing palely.
So I bent down
and took a bite,
and was hit
with a wave
of sour,
of bitter,
of spice.
But I chewed on,
for I knew
the sweetness would come.
And then it came:
big and bold and beautiful.
Overpowered and overthrown,
I knelt down,
and swallowed.
And looking up,
I saw the whole cloud,
its silver lining glinting,
daring me
to take another bite.
Dreaming Into A Fantasy
Last night,
I had a dream.
I was out of this world
...or so it seemed.
The grass was green,
the sky was blue,
and there was no one else;
just me and you.
And we were so free!
We could paint the sky,
we could eat the clouds,
and we could jump and fly!
Then the dream ended,
just as I took your hand,
for it doesn’t exist,
such a land.
