His footsteps echoed off the flagstone tiles, the sound hurried and urgent. The flaming torches on the walls flickered as he ran. 

"Thomas!"

He stopped abruptly, as if he'd been shot, and slowly turned. His face was a bloody mask. I shrieked. Upon his cheeks lay his own gouged-out eyeballs.

We will all have at least one moment in our lifetimes where we feel pure happiness, where we feel as if life is more than divine, a time so unforgettable that even in heaven we can reminisce in how absolutely beautiful, precise, perfect, peaceful, and amazing that that moment was.
